SUPPLY THE RIDE CAMPAIGN

Most recently, the Gumball 3000 Foundation has partnered with The Skatepark Project to support their Supply The Ride programme to deliver pre-assembled skateboards and equipment to communities around the world, incorporating this initiative into the rally route over the next 2 years. The 25th Anniversary Rally saw the first international Supply The Ride campaign, with the Gumball 3000 Foundation, TSP and Skateistan providing skateboard equipment to young skaters in Cambodia.

As part of this exciting project, graffiti artist Opake spray painted 50 blank skateboard decks as part of a live art installation display at the Gumball 3000 Grid in Wat Botum, Phnom Penh.

KO PANYI FLOATING FOOTBALL PITCH

As part of the Gumball 3000 Foundation Charity Auction held in Nashville during the 2022 Toronto to Miami Rally, the Foundation and Project Wreckless auctioned off two 1966/67 Mustang Fastback shells as part of a car restoration project with Project Wreckless. The Project Wreckless youth rebuilt each car to the desired specs of the winning bidders, Darren Donnelly of Team 55 and Dave & Joe Kaminkow of Team Kapow Racing.

This amazing initiative gave Project Wreckless youth the opportunity to utilise and develop their mechanical skills on both a fun and challenging project, enhancing their skill sets for future employment opportunities. A number of youth have gained work experience and internships at global car manufacturers as a result of their engagement with the Project Wreckless programme.

The project also gave Darren, Joe & Dave the opportunity to engage with the Project Wreckless youth who built their cars during a workshop in San Francisco last year.

Ko Panyi (Koh Panyee) used to be a quiet fishing island unknown to most travellers around the world. But thanks to its unique attraction, it has become a popular tourist destination welcoming thousands of visitors every day.

Ko Panyi’s floating football pitch was born out of inspiration after the world cup in 1986. With little access to land to play on, a group of locals decided to build a pitch on water. This group later became Panyee FC, who have competed in and won a number of championships in Thailand.

Thousands of games later the pitch was in need of repair, so the Gumball 3000 Foundation funded a full refurbishment of the pitch allowing young people and the local Panyi community to continue enjoying their spectacular innovation. During the 25th Anniversary Rally, The Gumball 3000 Foundation co-hosted a Gumball All-Stars small-sided football match with World Champion Football Freestyler Séan Garnier and young people from Panyi FC, engaging Gumballers with the Foundation’s supported initiatives.

Chong Prolay is a fishing village located within Kampong Khleang commune on the Tonle Sap, the largest freshwater lake in Cambodia. The local primary school is the first and only floating school in the village and serves around 100 children. Students mainly learn basic arithmetic and reading skills, but did not have access to a playground or recreational sports facility.

In the interest of the school and local community the Gumball 3000 Foundation funded the construction of a full-sized floating volleyball court, which also serves as a recreational playground for the local children. This facility is attached to Chong Prolay Primary School, which was also refurbished as part of the project.

A special thanks to ABOUTAsia Travel for all of their hard work on this project.
